The Oscars are in a few weeks, and there are some very good nominees for Best Cinematography. Personally, I believe that Joker: Folie a Deux being left out is a sin to the genre, but I digress. Emelia Perez used AI for some images, and that to me feels like cheating. I think the winners are actually between Nosferatu and Dune: Part 2. If you haven't seen Nosferatu, I implore you do, only to study the incredible cinematography and amazing directing.

Lets talk Joker. Was the movie great? no. I personally like musicals and think they can be done well, however it missed the mark. I feel like it jumped around and the music was "ehh" compared to the first. However, the cinematography was outstanding. the mo9vement, color, everything was fantastic.

For Dune 2, lets be honest the cinematography was amazing. it was consistent throughout and i loved it, however I don't think it really pushed the genre forward. It had great color and atmosphere, but it felt like we've seen that all before.

For Nosferatu, my personal winner, it feels like the DP pushed the genre to a new level. With the movement and following of the scene, it felt new and I loved watching it. The lighting, the openness and closeness it made you feel, just impeccable and very well done.
