How The Pyxis Will Take Cver Cinema, At Least In The Indie Market

The Black Magic Design Pyxis has officially been released and more and more people are getting their hands on it. Although I havent been able to get my hands on it, from what I've been seeing its one of the best cameras released in 2024. It offers BRAW from a full-frame 6k sensor with improved performance and enhanced colors. While all that sounds great on paper, how does it really hold up? From the footage I have seen coming out of it, its incredible.

They seem to have improved the rolling shutter performance, at least based on what I've heard other filmmakers saying. Once i get my hands on one, I will update this post with my own thoughts. We seem to be living in a time where most cameras are incredible, and only minute changes are prevalent. Now, it seems you're only really choosing between which brand has what you need most, and what you're wanting to shoot. The rest is more than not made up for you.

With the recent Red price drops, the Pyxis may look more and more appealing, even for me. I was planning on purchasing a Red at the start of 2025, but it seems I may have a few more options that I thought.
